I made the decision to have kids and it made me grow up. I was 23 when I had my first kid. I thought I knew everything about taking care of kids, but I learned that there’s a big difference between babysitting/ caring for children and being a parent. There’s a lot more responsibility.
I wonder if anyone is actually reading my blog posts.
In 1996, my then boyfriend and I had some problems paying our rent. My truck was broken, my parents were mad at me and not speaking to me. We had a newborn baby and neither one of us were working.
We put the baby in like a little sleeping bag . We rode the city bus to downtown Albuquerque to visit some places that might be able to help us with the rent. We walked all over going from church to church asking and applying for help. We finally got some and we walked back to the bus stop.
We gin on the bus and sat down. A man, who appeared to be homeless sat down in front of us. As we rode the bus, he asked about the baby and we showed him when he asked to take a peek at him. He asked if he could touch the baby and we told him no. When it came time for the man to get off of the bus, he turned, smiled, and said, “ Everything is going to be ok.” Then he walked to the front of the bus and got off.
As the bus started moving we watched the man walk away. We turned away from the window and back again. The man had disappeared. He was nowhere to be seen. He just vanished into thin air. My boyfriend and I looked at each other and he told me. “That was an Angel.” I agreed with him.
My then boyfriend, now ex husband, and will never forget that man. We believe he was sent to us to give us that specific message. We were so worried about our situation. It was terrifying having a newborn and not knowing what was going to happen to us. God has a way of reminding you he is in control.
It’s funny because I was just told by someone that I need to write down my thoughts and feelings.
Let me explain. I get thoughts and sometime pictures of things in my head. They just pop in. Sometimes I see faces and sometimes I see people standing in front of me. I don’t know why I see these things or people, but I do.
Art… I have ventured outside my comfort zone of making cards. My thing is making cards and crocheting. Recently I’ve tried doing different kinds of art. I learned, in the past year, that I can draw. I’ve tried painting and other things.
Another drawing… the theme was Fairytales.
And a picture I drew of my dad last year for Father’s Day.
I never cared for Dr. Seuss when I was growing up, when my kids were little and when I worked in a daycare, I love reading to little kids.
For Christmas one year my oldest son received a big book of Dr. Seuss stories. It had several different books all in one. “Yertle the Turtle” was the first story in the book. I immediately love it. It also raised my interest in the Dr. Seuss books.
I like to walk for exercise. On my walks an enjoy all the beautiful flowers and trees. It gives me time to think, clear my head, and get some exercise.
We have a locally owned restaurant named Rutillios. They serve New Mexican food. Red Chile, Green chile, Salsa, sopapillas, carne adovada, and other delicious foods. They also serve Regular food; breakfast and lunch. One of my favorites there is their chicken fried steak. It’s as big as the plate it’s served on. My daughter and I like to get it with white gravy and red chile. You can get it as a breakfast with eggs, tortilla, and bacon or sausage or for lunch you can have it with fries, and a roll. It’s so good!
